This large piece uses many traditional techniques in a contemporary design. The carcase is panel and frame construction and the drawers have hand-cut dovetails throughout (106 in total!). The drawer fronts, in brown oak, show the beautiful medullary rays resulting from quarter-sawn timber. The top, also in brown oak, is inlaid with a stringing line at its edge. This design matches a double bed I made for the clients some years ago.
