When a person decides they would like to commission a piece of furniture they are placing their trust in you to deliver something special. It must be enduring, both physically and aesthetically and it must meet their need, practically and emotionally. This is what I aim to do. Some clients will have a clear idea of what they would like whilst others are looking for a design solution from myself. It is nice to be given ‘carte blanche’ but the development of the design is always a two way process. All my designs are original and are made specifically to the requirements of the customer. After initial contact I will do some preliminary sketches; these will form the basis for further discussions. Based on these discussions I will make scale drawings and sometimes a model, which helps to visualise the final piece. When the design is finalised the price and completion date are agreed.
You are welcome to visit the workshop, especially early on in the process when deciding on timber. It can be very satisfying to see where your piece will be made and to have a closer look at some of my work. It may also be necessary for me to visit you at your home. Regarding payment, I take 30% deposit on commencement of work, with the balance due on delivery/collection. |
